STD/AIDS: Sexual Behavior, Knowledge and Representation Among Men Who Have Sex with Men in The City of Maceió - AL

Summary
The aim of this paper is to know the psychosocial and sexual practice of MSM population; to track down the knowledge about STD/HIV/AIDS; to know representation that these subjects have about AIDS and also the lack of the use of condom; to observe inadequate use of the condom with information, lubrificating and condom, so in this way it contributes for the reducion of the incidence of the HIV infection and other STD in the city of Maceió. The sample consists of 519 subjects recruited from the gay meeting points and other places with homossexual activities. The data was collected through a survey by applying a questionary. The results showed that a big part of the interviewed subjects are young adults (20 years old); get from 1 to 4 minimum wages (55,2%); their sexual initiantion was in the teens (13 - 14 years old); they are sexually active and their their feeling torward the condom are not romantic; 90% think that condoms are unpleasant and uncomfortable and a big par acknowlodged correctly the risk factor for safe and unsafe practice; AIDS had influence in their lives.
